Viansa '21 Shenendoah Cielo Trentesimo Barbera 1.5L

This is a magnum bottle (1.5 liters) of wine!

With similar characteristics to a Barbera Superiore, our Trentesimo Barbera has bright lifted fruit, vibrancy in flavors, and structure. This wine is an amazing mix of sweet and savory aromas and flavors. On the nose there are notes of cocoa, anise, blackberries, sea mist minerality, and allspice. The palate is driven with notes of loganberry, cedar, tart plum, vanilla, and talc. The vineyard source, extended barrel aging, and the Clos selected yeast resulted in a beautiful wine with complexity, middle-palate richness, and a long finish. Savor this rich and complex wine with spiced porchetta or roasted venison with creamy polenta and jus. 

Harvested in the early morning and destemmed into closed-topped stainless steel tanks. Inoculated with the Clos strain of yeast, which was selected for its ability to lift fruit and round out the middle palate. Wine fermented in tank for 15 days with twice daily pumpovers before it was drained and pressed, and then went through secondary fermentation in tank. Wine was aged in 25% new oak for 19 months.

The gold lines on the label are a topographic model of the contours of our hillside, while the name of this wine – trentesimo – is the Italian word for thirtieth.
